Well I decided to post on the blog before we leave tomorrow. What a fantastic 7 days we have had. I know I have posted to Facebook things we have done so I won't repeat them here. The weather took a small break yesterday and we had some sun with no rain. There was a cruise ship in Haines so Dottie was busy at her Gift Shop "Ben Den" and Dave had some carpentry to do. So we walked around town and had lunch. Dave made Moose burgers for supper and I made potato salad. So very good. Later we sat outside with our wine and coats to watch the cruise ship leave. This morning we left to go to the Porcupine Mine where the show "Gold Rush" started. They are not filming here this season so it was a good time to go and take photos and just see it. Anyway, while we were at the mine they told us that Fred "Dakota Fred" was in the Excavator moving some rock bed. So we went down the road and there he was. He was very nice and talked with us, then took photos. He is very different than how he comes across on the show. I will post photos. We drove around and look at a lot of areas and Dottie, Dave and Mike fished a little but the water was way too high in the river. We went to have some pie at the 33 Roadhouse than drove back to town. It was a really nice relaxing and fun drive!! We got back to town and Dave said he would see if John Schnabel was around and we could meet him (Gold Rush show for those who wonder). Well, he was! So we got to meet him and he was very nice. He talked about the town of Haines and when he arrived in 1939 etc. Just a sweet man and gracious to us. Yes, got a photo of this too. Dottie and Dave are making fish Enchiladas for supper tonight, going to be yummy. Dottie and Dave we have had such a wonderful time. Thank you for everything, the food was FANTASTIC!!! We will miss you so very much. Maybe we will go to Nashville in December to see you for the week you are there, who knows!!! Love you guys. Can't post photos tonight. Will do later.
